Cold Water Fish Skin (CWFS) Gelatin is derived from teleost fish having their habitat in the Arctic/Antarctic Ocean.
CWFS Gelatin has been successfully used as background suppressing additive by e. g. Behnke et al. (J. Cell Biol., 41, (1986), 326).
We find CWFS Gelatin to be most effective at a concentration of 0.1 %. A significant decrease in signal intensity may be noticed when using higher concentrations.
Actual Procedure
-Aldehyde inactivation
-PBS with 50mM Glycine, pH 7.4, 20 minutes
-Block with 5 % BSA, 1-5 % Normal Serum and 0,1 % CWFS gelatin in PBS, pH 7.4 for 15-30 minutes.
